We combined 9 years of experience in desktop and application management
with the knowledge and experience of our customers and partners.
Information about frequency of use and usability experienced while
using Scense’s functionality has been transformed into a new very
user friendly and intuitive Interface.
Enhanced Interface
Common functionality and features are available in wizards and are further automated.
For instance: the number of steps needed to create an application-object is reduced to
a small number of easy, intuitive steps. Administrators that need more advanced features
to implement less common tasks, can switch to the classic mode.
Enhanced Overviews
We improved the overviews within the Scense Explorer to give the IT-administrator easy
and quick insight in all relevant information about his system and provide fast access
to management-functionality. In this screen-example, the task pad (left side) will give
access to common tasks and information. The Scense System Overview shows all relevant
information regarding the Scense-system and it’s components like configurations for users,
applications and computers, active applications and users. The IT-administrator can tune
the interface to his or her own needs by adding a tree-view, switch to classis mode etc.
Application Overview
All information about an application-object is available in one overview: name, type (in this case
an MSI file, status (test, final, blocked etc) and information about the installation-sequence that
will be used and the usergroups that will be able to use the application.
Application Deployment
Scense supports numerous types of deployment (.Exe, MSI, Softgrid, SVS and thinstall) and
the creation of most of these application-objects is finished in a small number of intuitive steps.
Example: MSI
To deploy of an MSI-file, the IT-administrator or application-manager needs to finish the
following steps is:
| • | Select a name for the application. |
| • | Select the group with users that will need this application. |
| • | Determine the status of the application (is it blocked, active or still needs to be tested). |
| • | Select the version of the number (used for automated updates). |
| • | Import the shortcuts and determine where the
shortcuts should be visible (start menu, desktop etc). |
| • | Import the MSI file into Scense. |
And the application is ready for use. The users in the group will receive new shortcuts and the
application will be installed on the fly as soon as they need to use it.
Reduce need for application packaging
Each organization or department has it's own needs regarding the installation of an applications.
With Scense the IT-department or application-manager is able to tune the installation of an MSI to
the needs of the users without the costs of application-packaging. All MSI settings can be managed
from within Scense and will be used during the local installation.
