Dynamic Workspace Configuration

With Dynamic Workspace Configuration the IT-administrator will have the tool to provide the end-users with stable and functioning workspaces wherever and whenever they work. It will help him to decrease security-risks and implement corporate IT policies. Dynamic Workspace Configuration gives the IT-administrator full control without the drawbacks of locked down desktops or complex policy settings.

Administrators using Dynamic Workspace Configuration will have access to numerous templated configurations that will help them to implement all corporate policies they are facing. They will also be able to define their own configurations and move beyond Windows-registry, scripts and policy-settings. The templated or-self defined configurations can be linked to (groups of) users, computers and applications.

Dynamic Workspace Configuration will help you to facilitate in stead of dictate.

  

How does it work?

With every release, Scense will ship new configuration templates that will be ready for import in Scense. The administrator will create user of machine scope's. Each scope of users or machines will be linked to the configuration settings needed by the administrator. Configuration settings are available for configuration of the desktop, the Windows system, Network, settings related to security and specific applications. If a setting is not available (yet), the administrator is able to create his own configuration settings by using a user friendly wizard.

All settings that are relevant for to a specific end user or machine are implemented after the logon of the user.

How does this go beyond group policies?

Beside the fact that Group Policies are complex to create and manage, Group policies, or other tooling that address the same issues, are usually restricted to changing registry-entries. By using Dynamic Workspace Configuration, you will be able to use every task that is avavailable within Scense. You will not just be able to: change, create or delete a registry key but will also be able to manage:

 

  • File type associations

  • Environment variables

  • Files and folder

  • Network drives

  • Printers

  • Processes and services

  • Shortcuts

  • Execute scripts

  • Websites

  • And many more ...

An example: imagine you need to make sure a certain group of end users use the same wallpaper. Dynamic Workspace Configuration will not just set the appropriate registry key but will also copy the wallpaper file to the desktop.
