Rotterdam, November 8, 2012 - Scense, the fastest growing provider of User Workspace Management solutions, today released version 8 of its workspace management suite. Scense 8 changes each virtual and physical PC or laptop into a personal and customized workspace with universal access to IT resources, based on the environment of the user. With Live Profiles and dynamic printer management this ensures a high degree of freedom and personalization to the user, while the control remains firmly in the hands of the IT department.
"Scense 8 is the result of loyalty to our initial, user-centric view on IT, combined with feedback from our customers and partners," says Hessel Wellema, product manager at Scense. "In addition to a number of new powerful features and important changes in the Scense architecture, a large number of changes was implemented to increase the ease of use of our solution. As always, a very short Scense training for IT administrators should be sufficient facilitate end users the way they need today"
Scense has been known for years as an easy to use and efficient workspace management solution for desktop environments with PCs, laptops, terminal services and virtual desktops. Scense 8 goes further and addresses the latest IT challenges and use cases even better in the same elegant way. IT-management challenges related to mobile users, users with employee owned devices and virtual desktops can be solved in the same easy manner we know from earlier Scense versions.
With the support of WCF, the Scense Engines now run within Microsoft’s Internet Information Services. IIS's scalable and open architecture is ready to handle the most demanding tasks. The switch to WCF also results in a change of communication protocols. The full Scense service portfolio will be available over the internet, including application distribution.
A large number of Scense premium partners was actively involved in the development process of Scense 8. Without exception, they have high expectations of this Scense release.
"With the deployment of Scense 8 within our VDI solutions, we are able to provide organizations, users and administrators with the flexibility they need today." says Sander van der Post, sales manager at DHS Informatisering." Sander continues: "Users gain flexibility by the "anytime, anyplace and any device"-character of the combined solutions. Administrators are able to provide users quickly and efficiently with new versions and updates of the operating system. Scense 8 will ensure that the user is provided with the applications, settings and data that are relevant to him at that time. The context awareness of Scense 8 will guarantee that it is all done in a safe and reliable way."
Client ICT Group also has high expectations of the release of Scense 8. "For over 17 years, Client ICT Group has a focus on the execution of deployment and migration projects.” says Lorenz Werts, Director of IT Client Group. Lorenz continues: "We expect Scense 8 to allow us to support our customers even better in ensuring continuity, improve effectiveness and thereby realizing cost savings. Especially the new functionality in Scense 8 to manage laptops of mobile workers and provide them with applications via the internet gives us just that unique approach that our customers expect from us."
Scense users with a valid maintenance contract can download the software free of charge from the Scense website. For evaluation purposes, a temporary 60 days license with all Scense features is also available for download.
